Moodle Plug-in: Tell us what you think
Have you tried out the plug-in or just watched the video demo from the blog? What do you think?

Watched the video and I like the idea. Any plans on doing something similar for the Blackboard Learn VLE?

Both! I think it's a very good idea!

Have installed on a Moodle test site running moodle 1.9.4. I love this! HOWEVER when I log in using Windows Live Id I get redirected to my Moodle Log in page with a message saying invalid login please try again. I then still have to log in to the site and then I am not logged in to my calendar or hotmail sections either. This is going to be great but needs fixing any suggestions?
Cheers

Hi Wheelie,
thanks for trying it out! you definitely should not have to log in again, once you get redirected it should just think you are logged into Moodle. Did you go into the Moodle admin settings and add the LiveID email to the moodle account -- that's how we tell Moodle that you're a registered / authorized user for that site.
Hope this reply helps you out, if not let us know.
Thanks for trying it out, hope we can get you up and running!

Kosar,
Thanks for the reply, I think that one of my installed blocks was interfering with the setup of the plugin. I reinstalled a clean version of 1.9.4 and the configuration of the windows live block was completely different. Just a few queries still, the administrator account in Moodle cannot change the authentication method as far as I can see, and so they have to log in to moodle as normal and then into windows live account (a little awkward). Also in admin -authentication -windows live id there is a blank box with a save changes button underneath, is this right? Lastly as another user has posted where do you find the OWA username, pasword and service url to configure outlook live for users and also the windows live alert pin id and password. These I see as key features for schools to distribute information within their environment.
I hope I'm not bombarding you with too much info, I really like this plugin and hopefully it will be the beginning of more things to come.
PS. A quick suggestion is there any way that the message alert system can be configured to not display if the pc is plugged into a projector? i.e. it shows on the screen but not on the projected image. This would be useful for sending flash alerts to staff but not having them seen by pupils if the teaching is being projected in a classroom?
Thanks.

Hi Wheelie,
Absolutely no problem with your questions, we've been very excited to get this out there and get real feedback. One of our engineers who is the expert on this part of the code has had a family emergency so he's out of pocket today (we call that 'Murphy's Law' -- everything that can possibly go wrong will). So we're bringing in the reinforcements to help shore up the questions around Auth which I anticipated would be an area of lots of queries.
Hopefully we'll be able to get some replies posted this afternoon.
Thanks for your kind patience.

Really like the look of this plugin and hoping to integrate it into our Moodle setup when we launch in a few months time.
I've got the same problem with the blank configuration screen in authentication settings, running on Moodle 1.9.5

Gerrard

I 've encountered the same problem as gshaw any ideas?
Posted: 7/31/2009 9:16 AM
That is not a problem; there are no settings that are available in that space. In a future update, we will provide a summary in that space of the Windows Live ID authentication setting so it is more apparent that there should be no settings there (or add settings there if we determine that there is something that needs to be configured there).

Doesn't work - doesn't give any feedback nor error messages to help you find out what's wrong.
Very frustrating - promises much, delivers little

I have Moodle plug-in working.
I have a problem with deleted accounts.
If I have a account with a MSN ID, delete it, and then create a new account with the same MSN ID, I get "Duplicate <n>" error message where <n> is the number of duplicate accounts.
Moodle does not delete a user account, it just sets field "deleted" to 1, so the login sees duplicate accounts.
Can you modify the plug-in so that the LiveID only searches for the MSN ID where "deleted = 0"?
