Domain Name - Localhost No access
Everyone,

I'm deploying moodle locally (at http://localhost/) hence during AppID request for Domain Name I gave as localhost and there by the return URL also. But during signup for Live Messenger at Moodle after successful installation MS plug-in I obtained an error page with following description

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Allow Access to localhost

* There's a problem sharing your information with localhost. Please try again later.
View the information you're currently sharing

Return to Localhost BUTTON    Go to live.com BUTTON
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Can anyone help in how to deploy this locally, is that possible?

Hi Anish,

What did you put in the "Return URL" when you set up your Application ID?  Just http://localhost ?

Also would you please turn on Developer Mode in Moodle to look at the errors you are seeing there and post them on this discussion thread?

Thanks.
Kosar

Is this a Windows installation? If so, you could use your host file to provide an alias for the 127.0.0.1 localhost IP address. That's what I have done in a local development environment.

If this is a Linux installation, there may be a similar method you could use, I'm not sure.

I think the domain name "localhost" doesn't work.

You need a domain name to setup Live services plugin.  If you don't have a domain name.  You can "fake" one by editing your "hosts" file. Here is how:

http://www.educationlabs.com/projects/moodleproduct/Lists/Discussions/Flat.aspx?RootFolder=%2fprojects%2fmoodleproduct%2fLists%2fDiscussions%2fAppId%20without%20a%20domain&FolderCTID=0x01200200D45B6615A938C846AA1161B59DEFDC4D

Now you have a domain name. Access your moodle address with the domain name and install moodle. You can apply for an AppID with that domain too.

You cannot sign out live account with the fake domain name. But it should not be a big problem for a tryout.

Kosar,

This is my current settings while obtaining AppID
Domain(s): moodle-playground.com
Return URL: http://moodle-playground.com/auth/liveid/webauth-handler.php

Can you please tell me how to turn on the flag (in which file or check box, I didn't find any info or doc for this) in developer mode so that I can obtain more errors for debugging

To enable more errors for debugging, log in as an admin, and from the Server menu choose Debugging. The first two options "Debug Messages" and "Display Debug Messages" provide options for setting the display and verbosity of debugging messages.
Get Microsoft Silverlight
