Configuring Outlook Live

Move your school’s domain to Live@edu and enable Live@edu Organization features

The Microsoft Live Services Plug-in for Moodle with Outlook Live requires the Live@edu Organization feature set. Schools that enrolled with Live@edu after August 4, 2009, have this feature set enabled by default, and may skip to the Creating an Impersonation Account section below.

To move an existing domain to Live@edu Organization please follow these steps:

1.       Learn more about Live@edu Organization and the associated changes to the privacy policy at http://help.outlook.com/140/dd229070.aspx.

2.       Visit the Live@edu Organization Terms of Use Web site at https://exchanger3tou.mssandbox.com/TermsOfUse.aspx and authenticate your account by using the Outlook Live administrator ID associated with your domain. Review and accept the Terms of Use to enable the Live@edu Organization feature set for your school.

3.       Allow seven to ten business days after you accept the Terms of Use for Microsoft to migrate your school’s Outlook Live service to Live@edu Organization.

You can verify that the migration is complete by logging into Microsoft Exchange Online with your administrator ID. After you log in, you’ll see a Rules tab under organization management Exchange Control Panel. (See figure 1.) Please remember that it can take 7-10 business days before this option will be available.

Creating an Impersonation Account

The Microsoft Live Services Plug-in for Moodle uses the Impersonation account credentials to communicate with your Live@edu services. After the Live@edu Organization feature set is enabled for your school, you can create an Impersonation account in Outlook Live.

To learn more about impersonation accounts, see http://blogs.msdn.com/exchangedev/archive/2009/06/15/exchange-impersonation-vs-delegate-access.aspx.

Information about creating an Impersonation account is available from Outlook Live at http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/dd207272.aspx?ref=search.

After creating the account, your school will be ready to use Outlook Live Services with Moodle. On the Microsoft Live Services settings page, enter the Impersonation account details. (See Figure 2.)
